We hope this email finds you well during these difficult times. We had a number of phone calls inquiring about our flu shot clinic plans. We are still awaiting final word from Public Health, who is responsible for supplying the flu shots, but wanted to share our tentative plans.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we plan to administer the flu shots in a series of outdoor clinics. These are planned to run for 3 Saturdays, starting late October/early November, assuming we receive the requested flu shot allotment from Public Health. We are working on finalizing the details for these outdoor clinics, but our current plan is to offer these as drive in, with no appointments necessary. You will be immunized in your vehicle, without needing to come into the clinic. You will only need to bring your health card and wear a short sleeved shirt and mask. For families with young children, we will be immunizing on the same dates but in the clinic, maintaining proper social distancing with appropriate cleaning in between patients.

We will send a further email once the dates have been finalized.  Information will also be posted on our website (www.carolinefht.ca). We ask that you please not call the office with questions prior to checking the above sources, as we continue to have very high daily call volumes and this prevents other patients from reaching the office with acute medical concerns.

Flu shots will also be available at most local pharmacies. These will likely be done via appointment, and we would encourage you to check with your local pharmacy for details. Note that pharmacies will not be able to provide flu shots to children under the age of 5, but they will have high dose flu serum for seniors this year. As we all prepare for the winter ahead, we encourage everyone to get their flu shots this year. This remains the best defense against this potentially serious infection, in particular during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wherever you choose to receive your flu shot, we hope you stay healthy and safe.
